Number for a Name
Pluto suffers further indignity. Not only has it been stripped of planethood, it now has been assigned an asteroid number. At the beginning of 2006, it was orbiting with the big dogs. Today, the ice ball is known as minor planet #134340. This is a bigger fall from grace than Deal Hudson's.
Pluto's moon Charon doesn't even get its own number. It will be known as 134340 I.
