World Day of Vocations
... and Pope Benedict has a few words to say.
My words would include these:
It is important to instill in the young a sense of a call to holiness independent of one's state of life. With a broader base of Catholics who are personally committed to holiness, religious vocations would naturally follow. Parents are part of this. Liturgy has the potential to communicate a great deal of it. And while vocations directors are doubtless getting some activity here and there with scooping up twenty- and thirty-somethings, without a grounding in the holiness of the baptized, it's going to continue to be more miss than hit.
