A Pastor's Good First Impressions
A friend of mine, our associate pastor in fact, is being reassigned to two small parishes near St Joseph, Missouri at the end of the month. He was talking to me earlier today about the coordination between the two churches on Mass schedules. At present one has an 8:30AM Sunday Mass and the other has a 9:30. Something's got to give, I guess. But I know from personal experience how troublesome Mass schedule changes can be. Two sets of committees: finance, education, liturgy, buildings & grounds ... I also remember what it was like to coordinate those schedules to keep the pastor in the know (or as much in the know as he wanted to be).
Do priests take care in a new assignment? Are they too wimpy? Too bullish in the parish china shop? Just in case there are any new pastors in the blogdom audience, what have the good things and the mistakes been that you've seen? Priests, especially, feel free to comment from your perspective.
